SmartPro Management
The SmartPro management team supports the SmartPro network in a wide range of measures to achieve the strategic goals – both organizationally and operationally.
The SmartPro management team supports the SmartPro network in a wide range of measures to achieve the strategic goals – both organizationally and operationally. At the same time, the management team is responsible for important conceptual areas. This includes the development of new tools for evaluating and assuring research quality and transfer as well as for improving the dissemination of project results. Central tasks are also the integration of recruits and new partners as well as the organization of innovative event formats to strategically expand the network and further strengthen networking. Communication and marketing are also becoming increasingly important as well as sustainable anchoring of the partnership at the university and in the region.
These activities are funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the management projects of the initiation (2017-2020) and intensification (2021-2024) phases. Due to its outstanding importance for the further development of applied research in the state of Baden-Württemberg, the Ministry of Science (MWK) is also supporting the SmartPro intensification phase with personnel funds.

SmartPro Management Project: Intensification Phase and Long-Term Stability (Smart-PROM)
In the initiation phase, the SmartPro network was successfully established in the core region of Ostwürttemberg. In the intensification phase (2021-2024), the aim is to react agilely to new challenges from business, science, and society, to strengthen the network between research and industry partners, and to ensure that research results are applied to products developed in the industry.
In addition to general management tasks, Smart-PROM contributes significantly to the achievement of objectives in the SmartPro fields of action: research and development, networking and transfer, marketing, communication, and dissemination as well as long-term perspective. Smart-PROM acts as an impulse generator, catalyst, bridge builder, and pilot. It has an equal impact on the university, the partnership network, and the region. The management team is closely integrated into the transfer network with regional and national partners and plays an active role in shaping the network.

SmartPro Management Project: Initiation Phase (SmartProM)
SmartPro focuses on researching and developing innovative materials and new processes to create future-oriented, energy-efficient products. To implement this, strengthen the network between partners, and respond agilely to new challenges from business, science, and society, efficient management structures and processes are required. These were established and continuously developed as part of the SmartProM 2017-2020 management project.
As the central point of contact and interface for all SmartPro partners both internal and external to the university, SmartPro management has created interfaces between existing and newly developed organizational structures and procedures. In addition to quality management and supporting the steering committee, SmartPro management supports research and innovation as well as transfer of research into industry. An additional focus was put on networking and communication.
Steering Committee
The steering committee supports the strategic orientation and further development of the SmartPro network. Members of the steering committee usually meet to discuss new project ideas and current developments every six months. To incorporate diverse perspectives, representatives from companies, trade and industry organizations, and research are involved.
